Course Description

This course will provide an understanding of the history and contemporary use of Massage Therapy, analysis and application of various massage theories, therapist self care, practice of appropriate client care including communication skills and support of public health practices, as well as application of introductory massage therapy techniques and principles. This course will introduce students to the introductory Swedish massage therapy techniques. Students will learn effective application of the techniques, as well as how to assess the tissue to determine which techniques to use. By the end of the course students will be able to perform a full body relaxation massage. They will be introduced to postural assessment as a basis of their treatment.
