Course Description

This course will provide an understanding of the acceptance of responsibility for professional communication, conformance to intra-professional and inter-professional communication methods and standards, and use of conflict resolution and problem solving techniques. It will also provide an understanding of the establishment of professional client relations, formation of sound judgments about therapeutic vs. non-therapeutic boundary and trust issues, and the formation of sound judgments about sexual impropriety, boundary and trust issues. It will also provide an introduction to the provincial and federal legislation governing the profession as well as the policies and position statements of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. Health history interview skills as well as consent to treatment skills will be acquired.
